Late Benichou strike earns FUS Rabat draw against Ittihad Tanger
FUS Rabat salvaged a late point against Ittihad Tanger after a dramatic 1-1 draw in their Round 19 clash of the Moroccan National Professional Championship “Inwi”.
The visitors, Ittihad Tanger, took the lead in the 16th minute through Zakaria Kinani, giving Fares Al-Boughaz the early advantage at home. The goal set the tone for a competitive encounter, with FUS Rabat pushing forward in search of an equaliser throughout the match.
Despite sustained pressure from the Rabat side, the breakthrough only came late in the game. In the 87th minute, Salah Eddine Benichou struck to level the score, rescuing a point for FUS Rabat in the closing stages.
The result sees Ittihad Tanger move to 19 points, placing them in 10th position on the league table, while FUS Rabat climb to 25 points and remain 8th after sharing the spoils.
The late equaliser ensured a dramatic finish to a tightly contested encounter, with both sides ultimately forced to settle for a point each.
