LASSANA DIARRA LINKED WITH TOTTENHAM AFTER MARSEILLE MOVE FALLS THROUGH
The future of Lassana Diarra has once again become the subject of intense speculation. Previously linked with a move to Olympique de Marseille, the 29-year-old French midfielder is now reportedly being pursued by Tottenham Hotspur, according to L’Équipe.
Diarra, currently a free agent after parting ways with Lokomotiv Moscow, has attracted attention from several clubs despite being off the radar in recent months. While Marseille had been rumored to sign him, those talks appear to have cooled significantly—reportedly due to financial constraints and internal club decisions.
With Kyle Walker still sidelined and concerns over defensive depth, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino is said to be considering Diarra not just for his midfield experience, but also his ability to cover at right-back—a role he hasn’t filled since his Real Madrid days in 2012. Despite Tottenham already boasting a crowded midfield with Capoue, Stambouli, Dembélé, and Bentaleb, the Argentine coach may see Diarra as valuable cover and experience.
Diarra is also said to be on the radar of AC Milan, while his hefty salary demands—reportedly around €4 million per year—remain a significant factor in negotiations.
Though Marseille appeared to be a logical destination earlier, club officials have reportedly backed away from any deal, effectively closing that door.
As a free agent, Lassana Diarra can still sign outside the transfer window, and with several clubs monitoring his situation, his next move could materialize at any moment.
