Oussama Lamlioui’s decisive first-half goal secured Morocco a 1-0 victory over hosts Tanzania, earning the Atlas Lions a place in the semi-finals of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Raja Athletic Club midfielder Youssef Belammari split the Tanzanian defence with a precise pass to Lamlioui, who coolly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper. The RS Berkane striker’s clinical finish proved to be the match’s only goal, underlining his composure on the big stage.
Hosts fall short
Despite a spirited response from Tanzania, who pushed forward in search of an equaliser, Morocco’s defence held firm. The Atlas Lions managed the final stages of the match with maturity, frustrating the hosts and protecting their lead.
For Tanzania, the result brought disappointment after a promising campaign as co-hosts of CHAN 2024.
