Lamine Yamal has won the Kopa Trophy for a third consecutive year, with the FC Barcelonа forward again named the world’s best young player in 2026.
The Spain international previously claimed the award in 2024 and 2025, and his latest success confirms his continued dominance among football’s leading young prospects.
This year’s final standings also highlighted the growing presence of African talent and players of African origin at the highest level. Five players with African backgrounds featured in the top 10, including three in the top six.
Yan Diomande led the African representation, finishing fifth. The RB Leipzig player was the highest-ranked of the group, placing ahead of several highly regarded young players from across European football.
Ayyoub Bouaddi followed in sixth place, giving him a second successive position for players connected to the African continent inside the top six. His ranking further underlined the influence of African talent and its diasporas in the next generation of the international game.
Eli Junior Kroupi and Ibrahim Maza both finished eighth. Kroupi’s position placed AFC Bournemouth among the clubs represented in the upper part of the final standings, while Maza featured for Bayer Leverkusen.
Johan Manzambi completed the African presence in the top 10, finishing 10th with Aston Villa.
Together, the five players represented a significant part of the final Kopa Trophy ranking. Their inclusion reflected the range of backgrounds emerging in elite football and the increasing attention on young African talent.
