Lamine Yamal will try to win the Ballon d’Or next year – Barcelona manager Hansi Flick

Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has stressed that Lamine Yamal will try to win the Ballon d’Or next year.

The 18-year-old Spanish sensation of Moroccan descent came second in the 2025 Ballon d’Or rankings, missing out on the award to PSG star Ousmane Dembele.

On Sunday, Lamine Yamal, who had been out with an injury, returned to action for FC Barcelona, helping the team to secure a 2-1 win against Real Sociedad.

Speaking to the media after the match, Hansi Flick indicated that he is happy the teenager is back in action.

“I’m glad he’s back. And he quickly demonstrated his strength and ability to create chances. It’s great to have him back,” the Barcelona manager said.

He further claimed that winning the Ballon d’Or is on top of the agenda for Lamine Yamal next year.

“We can’t change the result of the Ballon d’Or, but Lamine Yamal will try again next year. This is a big deal for him and every player,” Hansi Flick added.
