Lamine Yamal will have his chance to win the Ballon d’Or in the coming years – Hansi Flick
Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has backed Lamine Yamal to win the Ballon d’Or in the coming years.
Yamal finished second at the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony, losing out to PSG star Ousmane Dembele.
According to Flick, the Spanish forward of Moroccan descent is motivated after missing out on the award this year.
“I’ve spoken with him, and he’s motivated to show his full potential. He’ll certainly have another chance to win the Ballon d’Or in the coming years,” Flick said.
The Barça boss also applauded Dembélé’s success, stressing that the Frenchman’s performances last season fully merited the award.
“Ousmane deserves it too. Not only Lamine was nominated, but other players as well, which shows that we are doing everything right,” he added.
Flick further provided an update on Yamal’s fitness, confirming the youngster is close to returning from a groin injury.
While he is unlikely to feature in Thursday’s La Liga clash against Oviedo, he could make his comeback this weekend against Real Sociedad.
Barcelona is also hopeful he will be ready for next week’s Champions League encounter with PSG.
