Lamine Yamal has written another piece of history for Barcelona, continuing his remarkable rise with a stunning goal against Mallorca that took his tally to 40 strikes in 136 first-team appearances at just 18 years old.

His latest effort in the 3-0 win at Camp Nou underlined his status as a genuine superstar in the making.

Opta data shows Yamal has now scored 24 goals in 92 LaLiga matches, the highest total recorded by any player under 19 in Europe’s top five leagues in the 21st century, moving him ahead of Kylian Mbappe, who managed 23 at the same age.

This season alone, the winger has already delivered 15 goals and 13 assists in all competitions, driving Barcelona’s attack with end product as well as flair.

Yamal’s current hot streak includes goals in each of his last three league games, plus strikes in the Champions League against Copenhagen and the Copa del Rey tie with Albacete.

Only Ferran Torres, on 16 goals, has scored more for Barca this campaign, underlining just how central the teenager has become to Hansi Flick’s forward line.
