Lamine Yamal sets new record as youngest player to reach 100 La Liga appearances
Lamine Yamal has etched his name deeper into Spanish football history after becoming the youngest player ever to reach 100 appearances in La Liga.
The FC Barcelona winger achieved the milestone on Saturday, April 11, during the Catalan derby against RCD Espanyol, reaching the landmark at just 18 years and 272 days. In doing so, he surpassed the long-standing record set by Raúl González, who had reached the same milestone at 19 years and 284 days in 1997.
Yamal marked the occasion in style, delivering a standout performance in Barcelona’s commanding 4-1 victory. The teenager found the back of the net and provided two assists for Ferran Torres, underlining his growing influence in the team’s title charge.
His century of appearances is matched by remarkable attacking output. After 100 La Liga matches, Yamal has registered 29 goals and 34 assists, bringing his total direct goal contributions to 63.
Among Barcelona’s youngest players, only Lionel Messi posted better scoring numbers at the same stage, having recorded 48 goals in his first 100 league appearances.
The scale of Yamal’s achievement becomes even clearer when compared to other elite names in football. While Raúl González and Iker Muniain both reached 100 La Liga matches at 19, Messi did so at 21, while Cristiano Ronaldo only hit the milestone at the age of 26.
This latest feat adds to an already impressive collection of records held by the Barcelona prodigy, including being the youngest debutant, goalscorer, assist provider, and El Clásico scorer in La Liga history.
At just 18, Yamal continues to redefine expectations, establishing himself as one of the most exciting young talents in world football while rewriting records once considered out of reach.
