Lamine Yamal rejected world record PSG offer at 17

Lamine Yamal’s meteoric rise at Barcelona has been underlined by Joan Laporta’s revelation that the club once turned down a huge offer from PSG for the young winger.

Speaking at the launch of his book “Así salvamos al Barça”, the former president confirmed that Paris Saint-Germain were ready to pay 250 million euros for Yamal before he had fully exploded as a global superstar.

“When PSG offered us 250 million euros for Lamine Yamal and we rejected it, he was 17 years old; some people thought we were crazy,” Laporta admitted, using the story to highlight how much faith Barcelona placed in their La Masia jewel.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported that the bid arrived shortly before Yamal went on to represent Spain at Euro 2025, where he shone as one of the standout players of the tournament.

Since then, Yamal’s importance and value have only grown, both on the pitch and in the market. The feeling around the club is clear: if Barcelona refused 250 million euros before he truly peaked, it is hard to imagine them ever agreeing to sell him.
