Lamine Yamal reacts to Real Madrid’s derby defeat after Atletico win

Barcelona forward Lamine Yamal appeared to celebrate Real Madrid’s 2-1 defeat by Atletico Madrid after reacting to a social media post from Atletico defender Marc Pubill.

Atletico secured victory in the Madrid derby during the seventh round of La Liga, with their result also benefiting Barcelona at the top of the table.

According to Foot Mercato, Yamal viewed a post published by Pubill after the match. The Atletico player shared several photographs from the game, including one showing him making a challenge on Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe.

Yamal did not add a written message to the post. Instead, he responded with several emojis, a reaction which indicated his happiness at seeing Barcelona’s traditional rivals beaten.

The result strengthened Barcelona’s position in the La Liga standings after seven rounds. The Catalan side moved clear at the summit, while Atletico climbed to second place with 16 points.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, dropped to fourth with 15 points. The derby therefore increased the gap between Barcelona and Real Madrid, adding significance to Yamal’s reaction on social media.

Yamal’s response attracted attention because of his role at Barcelona and the rivalry between the two clubs. His use of emojis, rather than a detailed comment, was enough to prompt discussion after Atletico’s win.
