Lamine Yamal reached an exciting milestone on Monday night, marking his 100th appearance in professional football.
The 17-year-old forward, with Moroccan and Equatorial Guinean roots, played a crucial role in FC Barcelona’s hard-earned 1-0 victory over Rayo Vallecano, with Robert Lewandowski scoring the only goal.
Yamal’s 100 career appearances are split between 83 games for Barcelona and 17 with the Spanish national team, with whom he won the 2024 European Championship this past summer.
It was his first major trophy, and he played a pivotal part in Spain’s success.
His standout performances have come against Athletic Bilbao and Granada, with Yamal netting three goals in two appearances against Granada. He has also scored three times against Athletic in five matches.
However, it was his unforgettable strike for Spain in the Euro 2024 final against France—a brilliant diagonal shot into the top corner—that truly captured fans’ imaginations and solidified his reputation as one of the brightest young talents in football.
To date, Yamal has scored 21 goals and provided 28 assists—a remarkable achievement for a player who is still under 18.
