Lamine Yamal makes Spain history with early goals in successive matches

Lamine Yamal scored inside the opening two minutes for Spain against Croatia, creating an unprecedented record in the 106-year history of the national team.

The Barcelona forward opened the scoring in the second minute of Tuesday’s Nations League meeting in Sevilla, finishing a swift Spain attack. It was his second consecutive international goal in the opening two minutes.

Yamal had also struck in the second minute when Spain beat England 3-2 in their opening match of the competition. That goal came after 104 seconds at Wembley, while his effort against Croatia arrived after 70 seconds.

Statistics account MisterChip highlighted the achievement on X, writing: “At 104 seconds, Lamine Yamal scored at Wembley, and at 70 seconds he has scored again against Croatia tonight.”

He added: “Spain have scored in the first two minutes of play in two consecutive matches for the first time in their 106-year history.”

The goal gave Spain a fast start in their second Nations League fixture, following their victory over England in the opening round.
