Lamine Yamal injury puts Barcelona’s Valencia and Newcastle clashes in doubt

Spain forward of Moroccan roots, Lamine Yamal, is making progress towards a full recovery.

The Barcelona winger took an important step in his recovery, returning to the pitch on Tuesday to train.

Although the teenager trained away from the team and touched the ball for the first time since his injury, he is not expected to be ready for action on Thursday when Barcelona takes on Real Oviedo in the Spanish La Liga.

Sources have indicated that the plan is for him to be ready to return to the team against Real Sociedad.

If that does not happen, the club will prepare him to be ready for the UEFA Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain on October 1.

Yamal’s return is seen as a huge boost for Hansi Flick’s side, who have leaned heavily on the teenager’s creativity and fearlessness in attack this season.

Even his presence on the training pitch has lifted spirits, as Barça navigate a congested run of fixtures.

On Tuesday, the session began in the gym before Yamal stepped onto the pitch for light work. He is eager to make a return but wants to be fully ready.
