“Lamine Yamal is the best of his generation” – Messi showers praise on Barcelona star
Lionel Messi has named Lamine Yamal as the young player who most closely reminds him of his early days in football, praising the Barcelona teenager’s talent and rapid rise.
In an interview with Argentine journalist Polo Alvarez, the Inter Miami CF star and former Barcelona icon said Yamal stands out among the new generation of players.
“For me, among the new generation of players, I think Lamine Yamal is the player who reminds me, more than anyone else, of myself at the beginning of my career,” Messi said.
He went on to describe the young Spaniard as the best talent of his generation so far, highlighting both his current performances and his potential for the future.
“There is no doubt about it, for me Lamine is the best of this generation, considering what he has achieved so far, and the great future that may await him,” Messi added.
The Argentine legend also spoke about his own future in football, making it clear that his passion for the game remains strong despite his age.
“I will play until I can’t anymore… I love what I do, I love football, and I will continue as long as I feel physically able,” he said.
Messi further emphasised his competitive nature as a key driving force behind his long career.
“Age doesn’t matter to me. I’m competitive, I hate losing, and that’s what got me to where I am,” he concluded.
