Barcelona wonderkid Lamine Yamal has been left disappointed after Nico Williams signed a surprise contract extension with Athletic Bilbao, putting an end to talk of a move to the Camp Nou.
Reports from AS suggest Yamal was eager to reunite with Williams, who has become a close friend during their time with Spain’s national team. The teenager was said to be “desperate” to see the winger in Barcelona colours next season.
Williams, however, has committed his future to Athletic Bilbao by signing a new deal that runs until June 2035, leaving Barcelona fans and Yamal stunned.
The 22-year-old winger said, “I’m where I want to be. This is my home.” His statement reaffirms his love for the Basque club, which has backed him since his youth days.
The Spanish-Ghanaian winger signed a 10 year deal that will end in 2035
With Williams out of the picture, the Catalan giants must now look elsewhere to boost their frontline.
