Lamine Yamal discusses maturity and Barcelona’s strong start

Lamine Yamal believes he has become more professional and balanced as he continues to develop at Barcelona.

The 19-year-old forward says his happiness away from football now has a clear effect on his performances.

“I am being more professional, and that was something that was a little difficult for me too. In the end, when you are 17 there are things that, when you are 19, you say, ‘I have to be like this’,” Yamal told TVE.

He added: “I think you can notice it. The happier I am, the better I perform.”

Yamal has also welcomed Barcelona’s summer arrivals, praising Gordon, Rodri and Adeyemi for adapting quickly to Hansi Flick’s methods. The winger believes the team’s understanding will continue improving as the coach spends more time working with the squad.

“We have arrived in very good physical condition. The more time the manager spends with us, the more we understand each other,” he said.

Asked about recent controversy involving Real Madrid, Yamal refused to be drawn into the discussion. “I am not really following it, to be honest. I am not very interested. As long as Barca keep winning, there is nothing to talk about, only our football and our victories,” he explained.
