Lamine Diop: Senegalese-French defender joins Aurillac FC on free transfer

Senegalese-French centre-back Lamine Diop has joined Aurillac FC on a free transfer from Alberes Argeles. The 30-year-old moves to the French club after his contract with Alberes Argeles came to an end, with the deal completed on 30 July 2026.

Diop, who was born in Dakar and also holds French nationality, strengthens Aurillac’s options at the heart of defence. Standing at 1.94m and predominantly right-footed, he is expected to operate as a central defender in his new side.

The move follows a season with Alberes Argeles, whom he had rejoined in 2025, also as a free agent. His latest switch continues a sequence of short-term spells in the French game, with previous moves between Alberes Argeles and Chateaubriant in recent seasons all completed without transfer fees.

Across recent campaigns in the French lower divisions, Diop has built up regular game time, including more than 50 league appearances in National 1 and National 2 groups, as well as featuring in the Coupe de France. His experience at those levels was a key factor in Aurillac’s decision to bring him in as a free signing.

Diop’s arrival is registered as a permanent transfer, with Aurillac FC securing the defender without a fee following his departure from Alberes Argeles.
