Lamine Camara Wins Monaco August Goal Award

Lamine Camara has been named the winner of AS Monaco’s “Gem of the Month” award for August after his spectacular strike against Górnik Zabrze in the Conference League play-off.

The Senegalese midfielder’s goal was voted the best of the month by Monaco supporters as part of the “Gem of the Month by APM Monaco” initiative, giving him the first award of the 2026-27 season.

Camara scored Monaco’s second goal in their 3-2 victory over the Polish side in the first leg of the Conference League play-off on 20 August. His effort came shortly after Mika Biereth had put the French side ahead.

The goal arrived in the 51st minute following an attack down Monaco’s right side. Vanderson tried to pick out Paris Brunner inside the penalty area, but a Górnik Zabrze defender intervened and cleared the ball towards the centre of the pitch.

Camara was perfectly positioned to meet the loose ball and needed no second invitation. He struck it first-time, producing a powerful half-volley that flew into the bottom corner of the Polish goalkeeper’s net.

It was not only an impressive finish but also an important moment in the match, giving Monaco a two-goal advantage as they continued their push to reach the next stage of the European competition.

Camara’s goal also formed part of a strong individual display against Górnik Zabrze. The Senegalese midfielder was involved throughout the match, touching the ball 81 times and winning possession back on eight occasions.

His performance and memorable finish left a strong impression on Monaco supporters, who were given the opportunity to select their favourite goal from August through the club’s monthly award initiative.

Several weeks after the strike, the fans decided to recognise Camara’s effort, making him the first recipient of the “Gem of the Month” award for the new campaign.

The award adds another highlight to what was an important moment for Monaco as they began their European campaign.

Camara’s powerful finish not only helped his side secure a 3-2 win in the first leg but has now been officially recognised by the club’s supporters as their standout goal for August.
