LaLiga investigates racist abuse targeting Moroccan Marouane Sannadi

LaLiga has launched an investigation into allegations of racist abuse directed at Moroccan footballer Marouane Sannadi during the recent Espanyol-Athletic Bilbao match.

The league confirmed on Monday that it is gathering evidence and will present its findings to the relevant disciplinary authorities.

The incident came to light when Athletic Bilbao’s Iñaki Williams alerted the referee to racist insults from sections of the crowd.

In response, the match officials activated LaLiga’s anti-racism protocol, issuing a stadium announcement warning that the game could be halted if the abuse continued.

LaLiga also acknowledged reports of hostile chants aimed at Real Madrid players during their match against Osasuna in Pamplona.

An investigation is underway, with the case set to be reviewed by the Spanish Football Federation’s Disciplinary Committee.

LaLiga condemns violence and fan misconduct

In addition to the racism investigations, LaLiga is monitoring a violent incident involving two Villarreal supporters who were attacked near La Cerámica stadium after their team’s match against Valencia.

The assault, carried out by a group of hooded individuals, has been widely condemned by both clubs.

Valencia CF issued a statement denouncing the attack, pledging to ban any perpetrators identified as season ticket holders from Mestalla.

LaLiga reaffirmed its commitment to eradicating racism and violence in Spanish football, promising to take all necessary legal actions to ensure accountability and stricter measures against discrimination.
