Kyliane Dong joins Bolton Wanderers on loan from Augsburg

Kyliane Dong will spend another season away from FC Augsburg after securing a new loan move to England.

The Bundesliga club confirmed on Tuesday that the 21-year-old attacker is joining Championship side Bolton Wanderers on a one-year deal, with the English team holding an option to buy. Both clubs agreed not to disclose the financial details of the agreement.

Dong is no stranger to life on loan. Last season he played regularly for French second-division club Pau FC, where he made 31 competitive appearances and scored six goals, using the opportunity to gain valuable minutes and sharpen his game.

Augsburg sporting director Benni Weber praised the youngster’s progress and made clear that this latest move is designed to keep his development on an upward curve.

“Kylian made excellent use of his first loan spell, gaining valuable playing experience and taking the next step in his development. Now, his goal is to build on this progress and establish himself at a higher level,” Weber said.

At Bolton, Dong is expected to continue growing in a more demanding environment and test himself in the physical, fast-paced world of English football.
