French Ligue 1 sides Lens and Toulouse are competing to sign highly rated teenage midfielder Kylian Bakari Viemont, who has impressed with CS Mainvilliers’ U17 National team this season.

The 17-year-old Franco-Malian prospect has emerged as one of the standout performers in his category, attracting attention from several clubs, with Lens and Toulouse leading the race for his signature ahead of the summer transfer window.

Rising talent drawing serious Ligue 1 interest

Lens are understood to have already opened discussions with the player’s representative, encouraged by his consistent performances in the U17 National Championship.

The club views Viemont as a long-term prospect and has been monitoring his progress closely throughout the campaign.

Toulouse, meanwhile, are also pushing to reach an agreement for the midfielder, who turned 17 on 13 January 2026.

The club is keen to secure his services as part of its development-focused approach, with the player seen as a strong fit for its pathway into senior football.

Strong season fuels Ligue 1 transfer race

Viemont’s rise has been swift since joining SC Mainvilliers last summer from Quevilly-Rouen Métropole.

His impact has been immediate, with the midfielder delivering an impressive return of seven goals and one assist in 19 appearances.

Those performances have not gone unnoticed beyond France, with interest also reported from clubs abroad.

However, the player is believed to favour remaining in France to continue his development, with the long-term ambition of reaching the highest level of the game.

Future yet to be decided

With both Lens and Toulouse actively pursuing a deal, the coming months are expected to be decisive in determining Viemont’s next step.

His preference to stay within the French system could play a significant role as negotiations progress.

As interest continues to grow, the teenager’s next move is likely to shape the early stages of a promising career that is already drawing widespread attention.
