Kylian Mbappe’s injury leaves Real Madrid in limbo as Getafe clash approaches

Kylian Mbappe continues to struggle with persistent ankle pain, making it highly unlikely he will play in Real Madrid’s upcoming away match against Getafe.

According to L’Equipe, despite earlier reports that the French star was fit after his injury, his recovery remains incomplete and the discomfort lingers. If Mbappe does not feature, Madrid plans to save him for next week’s key fixture against Juventus.

The striker was forced to return to action after only one international break game, which worsened his condition. Now, coach Xabi Alonso is expected to rely on young forward Gonzalo Garcia to fill the attack in Mbappe’s absence.

Despite the setback, Mbappe is having a stellar season. In the 2025/26 La Liga campaign, he has scored 9 goals in 8 matches, leading all Real Madrid scorers, with three of those coming at home and six away. His total goal involvements (goals plus assists) stand at 11, averaging 1.41 per 90 minutes, and he manages to score every 78 minutes, a remarkable record for any striker.

Madrid fans hope Mbappe will recover in time for critical matches ahead, as his presence continues to be vital for Los Blancos
