Kylian Mbappe returns to Real Madrid training after World Cup break
Real Madrid superstar Kylian Mbappe has returned to training with the Spanish giants after enjoying a three-week break following his participation with France at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Mbappe, who also has Cameroonian roots reported for duty on Monday as Real Madrid stepped up preparations for the new season under newly appointed head coach Jose Mourinho.
He was joined at the club’s training ground by fellow new arrivals Ibrahima Konate and Spanish full-back Marc Cucurella, who also featured for France during the 2026 World Cup.
The trio underwent their respective medical examinations before taking part in their first training session of the pre-season on Monday morning under Mourinho.
Mbappe later shared videos of his return to training on Instagram, documenting his first session alongside Real Madrid’s physical trainer Sebastian Dovila.
The return of several key players is expected to give Mourinho a significant boost as he continues preparations for his first season in charge of the Spanish giants.
French midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni and England international Jude Bellingham, who were also involved at the 2026 World Cup, are expected to return to training later on Monday.
Real Madrid are now preparing for a busy period of pre-season action, with the club scheduled to play three friendly matches in the coming days as Mourinho assesses his squad ahead of the new campaign.
The European giants will then begin their La Liga campaign away to Espanyol on August 22, with Mbappe expected to play a central role in the club’s push for domestic and European honours.
