Kylian Mbappe has returned to Madrid to continue his recovery from injury, with Real Madrid taking a cautious approach to his return.
The France forward left the UEFA Nations League group-stage match against Turkey in the 59th minute after scoring the only goal of the game.
Real Madrid subsequently announced that Mbappe would be unavailable for two weeks after suffering a muscle strain. He spent the past few days in France following a rehabilitation programme before travelling back to the Spanish capital on Monday.
Mbappe is expected to resume training soon as he continues with his recovery plan. However, the club do not want to take any risks with the forward following what has been described as a knee injury and would prefer to give him sufficient time to recover fully before selecting him again.
According to Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Real Madrid are keen to avoid rushing Mbappe back into action. The report says the club would like him to miss the match against Villarreal in matchweek eight of La Liga and the Champions League meeting with Roma in the second round.
The plan would be for Mbappe to return against Sevilla in matchweek nine of La Liga, a fixture that comes before Real Madrid face Barcelona in matchweek 10.
Mbappe has made eight appearances for Real Madrid this season, scoring eight goals and providing two assists.
Real Madrid are fourth in the La Liga table with 15 points. The club are preparing to host Villarreal next Saturday in matchweek eight.
