Kylian Mbappe left Mestalla deeply frustrated with the officiating in Real Madrid’s 2-0 victory over Valencia, feeling too many key calls went against his side.
Throughout the match, cameras caught the French forward repeatedly challenging decisions he considered unfair, as Real Madrid battled both their opponents and the whistle.
The tension spilled over in the tunnel after the final whistle, where Mbappe confronted the referee directly. “You tell me to talk and you don’t even look at me… honestly,” he said, complaining that his attempt to speak respectfully was being ignored. “You tell me to talk inside and I’m inside and you don’t speak to me.”
When the fourth official continued to brush him off, Mbappe turned to teammate Eduardo Camavinga and, in French, let his anger show, calling the referees “Clowns, referees.”
Despite feeling hard done by several decisions, Real Madrid still managed to secure the win, closing the gap in La Liga to just one point behind leaders Barcelona and keeping the title race very much alive.
