Kylian Mbappe: Chelsea linked with shock move for Real Madrid and France forward
Kylian Mbappe, the France international forward currently at Real Madrid, has been linked with a sensational move to Chelsea in what would be one of the most audacious transfer attempts in Premier League history.
The 27-year-old centre-forward, who represents France and has Cameroonian heritage, only joined Real Madrid in July 2024 after leaving Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer. He is under contract at the Bernabeu until June 2029 and is currently valued at around 180 million, underlining the scale of the financial challenge any deal would pose for Chelsea.
The likelihood of a transfer is currently rated at just 1%, reflecting the size of the operation and Real Madrids strong negotiating position. Mbappe has already established himself as one of the standout performers of his generation, with 70 goals in 98 UEFA Champions League appearances and 191 goals in 246 Ligue 1 matches earlier in his career.
At international level, Mbappe has underlined his status as a global star at the 2026 World Cup, scoring eight goals and providing three assists in six matches, directly contributing to the majority of his sides goals at the tournament.
Chelseas interest comes at a time when Mbappe is expected to be a central figure for Real Madrid over the coming seasons, having taken the No 10 shirt and added LaLiga goals to a record that already includes 56 strikes in 65 Spanish top-flight appearances. With three years remaining on his deal after this season, Real Madrid are under no pressure to sell, and any approach from Chelsea would have to test the resolve of a club built around their marquee forward.
