Kwasi Sibo reveals Premier League, Saudi offers as Ghana World Cup star weighs next move

Ghana midfielder Kwasi Sibo has revealed that he is considering offers from the English Premier League and Saudi Pro League as he prepares to decide the next chapter of his career.

The 28-year-old became a free agent on July 1 after his contract with Spanish club Real Oviedo expired, but his performances over the past two seasons – and particularly at the 2026 FIFA World Cup – have placed him on the radar of several clubs.

Speaking to 3Sports, Sibo confirmed that he has received proposals from different markets and expects clarity on his future soon.

“I have offers from the Premiership. I have offers from the Saudi Premier League. So I’m looking forward to those offers within this week. I will know because I feel like I’m still young. I’m 28. I’m not old.”

Sibo’s stock rose significantly after helping Real Oviedo secure promotion to LaLiga during the 2024/25 season. The defensive midfielder became a key figure at the Estadio Carlos Tartiere after joining from SD Amorebieta in 2024, establishing himself as one of the team’s most reliable performers.

Although Oviedo were unable to avoid relegation from Spain’s top flight last season, the club decided against extending his contract, leaving the Ghanaian international available without a transfer fee.

Champions League ambition drives Sibo’s decision

Despite interest from the Gulf region, Sibo has made it clear that his priority remains competing at the highest level in Europe.

The midfielder believes he still has enough years ahead of him to take on another major challenge and would welcome the opportunity to join a club competing in the UEFA Champions League.

“I still have the strength to be in Europe, to compete. If my agent is able to find a team that will be competing in the Champions League, I’m always at service and I’m ready to face that challenge.”

Greek powerhouse PAOK have also emerged as a possible destination, with reports suggesting the club has opened talks over a two-year contract for the Ghanaian.

However, the proposal from Greece is competing with interest from England and Saudi Arabia, giving Sibo several options as he weighs his next move.

World Cup performances boost midfielder’s profile

Sibo earned his first-ever World Cup call-up this summer and played an important role as Ghana collected four points from matches against Panama and England.

His displays in midfield during the tournament strengthened his reputation as a player capable of competing on football’s biggest stages.

Born in Wa in Ghana’s Upper West Region, Sibo has built a diverse European career, featuring for clubs across several countries.

His journey has taken him from Armenia with Urartu, to England with Watford, Albania with Skenderbeu, and Spain with UD Ibiza, Real Betis, Amorebieta and eventually Oviedo.
