Saint-Etienne has bid farewell to its central defender, Kurt Zouma, who is only 19 years old.
Zouma has made the move to Chelsea, with manager José Mourinho reportedly eager to secure his services.
Mourinho’s intention is to revitalize his squad, particularly in defense, with Zouma seen as a long-term replacement for aging players like John Terry (36 years old), whose contract extension is uncertain, and David Luiz.
The French talent has inked a five-and-a-half-year deal with Chelsea, indicating a significant investment in his future.
The transfer fee is said to be around 13 million euros, with an additional 3 million euros in potential bonuses paid to Saint-Etienne for their player, who was contracted until 2017.
Zouma will remain with AS Saint-Etienne for the remainder of the season on loan, allowing him to continue his development before fully joining Chelsea.
