Kruger United recruit South African striker Wonderboy Makhubu for Betway Premiership campaign

South African centre-forward Wonderboy Makhubu has joined Kruger United on loan from Stellenbosch FC, bringing a new attacking option to the Betway Premiership side.

The 29-year-old completed the move on 26 August 2026 and has signed terms with Kruger United running until 30 June 2027. No transfer fee has been disclosed for the loan.

Makhubu arrives after making two appearances for Stellenbosch in the Betway Premiership during the 2026-27 campaign. He has not scored or provided an assist in those outings, and has started neither match.

Born in Vosloorus, Gauteng, Makhubu stands 1.90m tall and plays primarily as a centre-forward. He is right-footed and joins Kruger United with a career market value of €600,000.

His move adds further top-flight experience to the Kruger United squad, with the striker having already featured in the Betway Premiership before switching clubs. The transfer also keeps him in the same division, as both Stellenbosch and Kruger United compete in South Africa’s top flight.

Makhubu previously played for Magesi FC, where he won the South African Cup during the 2024-25 season. That remains the major honour recorded in his senior career and provides the main achievement on his football resume before his move to Kruger United.

The forward’s early involvement at Stellenbosch this season was limited to two league appearances, and he now changes clubs within the opening weeks of the campaign. His arrival gives Kruger United a senior striker with recent experience of the competition and a physical presence in the centre-forward role.

Makhubu’s loan is the latest confirmed step in a career that has included domestic football at the highest level in South Africa. He will remain contracted to Kruger United until the end of June 2027, while the loan move takes him away from Stellenbosch for the current period.

Kruger United have therefore secured the services of Makhubu from Stellenbosch FC on loan, with the South African striker joining the club on 26 August 2026.
