Krépin Diatta: right winger linked with Lens return in France transfer move

Krépin Diatta is being linked with a move from Monaco to Ligue 1 rivals Lens, with the Senegal winger’s future in the Principality increasingly uncertain.

The 26-year-old, currently valued at €5.00m, is the subject of fresh speculation on the French transfer market, with Lens reportedly exploring the possibility of prising him away from the Stade Louis-II. The reported probability of a deal remains unclear, listed only as “?”, and there is no indication yet of whether any formal bid has been lodged.

Diatta’s contractual situation at Monaco is opaque, with no public record of an expiry date, raising the possibility that he could move on a cut‑price fee or even edge towards free-agent territory if talks over his future stall. That uncertainty, coupled with his reduced market value in recent years, has fuelled talk that Monaco may be open to listening to offers.

Born in Dakar on 25 February 1999, Diatta joined Monaco from Club Brugge in January 2021 after rapid development in Belgium, having first arrived in Europe with Sarpsborg 08 in Norway. His trajectory once saw his estimated value peak at around €21m during his time at Brugge, but successive updates have charted a steady decline to the current €5m mark as his role at Monaco has fluctuated.

Capable of operating across the attack but primarily on the right wing and favouring his right foot, Diatta offers pace and direct running, attributes that would fit Lens’s high‑intensity style. Both Monaco and Lens compete in Ligue 1, so any move would keep him in a familiar environment while offering a fresh start at a club seeking to consolidate itself near the top end of the table.

Should a transfer materialise, a switch to Lens could prove a pivotal juncture in Diatta’s career, offering the chance to rebuild his value, reassert his reputation in France and recapture the upward curve that once made him one of Africa’s most coveted young wide players.
