Kolo Muani earns Juventus praise after turning doubts into impact

Randal Kolo Muani did not need to score to make a decisive impression as Juventus beat Atalanta 2-0, with the France striker’s performance earning acclaim from both the Italian media and manager Luciano Spalletti.

Kolo Muani began the season facing criticism and uncertainty, but his display against Atalanta suggested he is starting to answer those questions on the pitch. Although Juventus remain seventh in Serie A, the forward was named player of the match by La Gazzetta dello Sport, while Il Corriere dello Sport described him as “irrepressible”.

His contribution extended beyond his movement and the pressure he applied to the Atalanta defence. From frustration to confidence

The change will be welcomed by Juventus, who had been unhappy with the player’s early performances after signing him permanently from Paris Saint-Germain for 50m euros, including incentives and bonuses.

In recent weeks, however, Kolo Muani has gradually begun to alter the perception surrounding him. His progress has followed sustained efforts to prove himself and regain the confidence of the coaching staff and supporters.

Spalletti previously revealed how hard the striker had been working to overcome his difficult start, saying the player had continued to train despite the circumstances around him.

“He wanted very much to change his situation,” Spalletti said, explaining that Kolo Muani had even gone to the club on a day when training was optional.

“Training was optional, but he was the only player there. He ate alone and slept alone… It is really wonderful to see him this way. He cares so much about it and is suffering greatly because he cannot play.”

Spalletti said Kolo Muani’s ability to overcome those difficulties and rediscover his form was a positive sign, particularly after the controversy surrounding the forward had forced him to clarify his position to the media.

Following the victory against Atalanta, the Juventus manager again backed him to make a significant impact in Serie A.

“I am certain that Kolo Muani, who played a wonderful match tonight, will establish himself as an important striker in this league,” Spalletti said.

The manager also praised the France international’s ability to move freely, a quality that makes him difficult for defenders to track. He highlighted Kolo Muani’s reaction after missing a clear opportunity and seeing his header cleared from the goal line.

“He was unlucky in front of goal, but he showed great composure and was not upset when his header was cleared off the line, as other forwards might have been,” Spalletti added. “He really played an excellent match. I was disappointed that he did not score when he was through on goal because he deserved it.”

Within two weeks, Kolo Muani has shifted the direction of his Juventus story. After a troubled start marked by criticism and debate, his response has come through work, commitment and performances. His name was absent from the scoresheet against Atalanta, but his influence was clear, offering him the chance to close one chapter and begin another with performances before goals.
