Kobbie Mainoo proud of Man United journey after new deal
Manchester United have tied down midfield star Kobbie Mainoo until 2031, underlining his status as a central figure in the club’s new youth-led era.
The 21-year-old, who first joined United at just six, reflected on his rise from academy hopeful at Carrington to a key first-team player under Michael Carrick.
Mainoo highlighted how much he has absorbed from experienced figures in the dressing room, especially Casemiro and Bruno Fernandes. “It’s been huge for me because I’ve learned so much off (Casemiro). Him and Bruno, to be fair,” he explained, recalling how training with the seniors as a teenager effectively became his “games” as he studied their calmness at high intensity.
He admitted he still feels like a student of the game but now also recognises his own responsibility to support the next generation coming through United’s academy. Mainoo said he wants to help Under-18s feel at home in the first-team environment, reflecting the values the club is built on.
This season, Mainoo has delivered 3 assists in 26 appearances across all competitions, playing a crucial role in Manchester United’s push for Champions League qualification.
