Kirin Challenge Cup: Ghana coach Otto Addo confident of victory against Japan on Friday
Ghana head coach Otto Addo is confident in his team’s chances of victory as the Black Stars gear up to face Japan in the Kirin Challenge Cup at the Toyota Stadium in Aichi on Friday.
Speaking ahead of the encounter, Addo expressed satisfaction with the team’s preparations and commended Japan for their quality and organisation.
“We are very, very pleased to be here. This is not our first time; we know the Japanese Federation has a very, very strong team,” Addo said.
He added that everything has gone smoothly in camp and believes his side has what it takes to secure victory despite the tough challenge ahead.
“I think so far everything went well with the organisation and so on, and we are looking forward to that match. It will be difficult for us, but I know we also have the strength to beat Japan. We started very well, and like I said, it’s going to be a tight match, and I’m looking forward to it,” he stated.
The fixture forms part of Ghana’s build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted in the USA, Canada, and Mexico, with another friendly lined up against South Korea four days later.
