The preliminary round of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2025 qualifiers is set to commence tomorrow, Wednesday, more than a month after the conclusion of the 34th edition of the tournament in Ivory Coast.
Eight lowest-ranked national teams, according to the FIFA rankings, will vie for four spots in the final qualifiers, which will be held in group stages to secure a place in the AFCON finals slated to take place in Morocco.
The final qualifiers will feature 48 teams, with 24 teams ultimately qualifying for the continental championship, as stated by the official website of the Confederation of African Football (CAF).
The preliminary round of the qualifiers begins tomorrow, where the Somali national team will face Eswatini, while Djibouti will host Liberia.
The qualifiers continue with two matches next Friday, as Sao Tome and Principe host South Sudan, and Chad takes on Mauritius.
The return leg matches will be held on March 26th to determine the four teams that will advance to the final qualifiers.
