New Kaizer Chiefs signing Khanyisa Mayo has expressed his joy after sealing a move to the Soweto giants, describing it as a “return home.”

Chiefs announced the 27-year-old forward as their 11th signing of the season on Friday evening, snapping him up after his spell with Algerian side CR Belouizdad.

Mayo, who left Cape Town City last year for the North African club, scored six goals and registered one assist in 41 appearances. However, after failing to secure a spot in Belouizdad’s squad for the new season, Amakhosi moved quickly to bring him back to South Africa.

In his unveiling message to Chiefs fans, Mayo could not hide his excitement about joining the club.

“Hello Amakhosi nation, this is Khanyisa Mayo. I’m very excited to tell you that I’m coming home to be part of the biggest football family in the world,” he said.

Mayo added, “I am Khosified and I can’t wait to see you, and be part of the beautiful Khosination. My blood is gold and black. Love and peace, see you soon. Amakhosi4Life.”
