The Egyptian national team fell short of expectations in their match against Mozambique, despite an early lead secured by Mustafa Mohamed. Khaled Jadallah, former star of the Egyptian national team, expressed his concerns, attributing the drawn outcome to defensive errors, poor positioning in the backline, and a lack of mental readiness among the players.
Speaking on the “Box to Box” program, Jadallah stated, “The goals conceded by the Egyptian team in today’s match against Mozambique were due to defensive mistakes and poor positioning in the backline.
Most of the players were not mentally prepared, and a clear lack of focus affected the performance noticeably.”
Jadallah emphasized that the players bear a significant responsibility for the draw against Mozambique, highlighting a subpar performance even from renowned player Mohamed Salah.
He regarded the match as a warning signal for both the players and the coaching staff ahead of the upcoming encounter against Ghana.
“Most African teams have comparable levels, and Mozambique had aspirations against the Egyptian team.
Mohamed Salah was positioned deep in the field and did not perform at his usual level because he found himself in the midst of congestion.
It would be better for him to return to the right side and then move into the depth of the field,” explained Jadallah.
He further suggested, “Zizo performs better as a winger, away from the midfield and the central position.
Each player has specific abilities and capacities.
They may participate in positions other than their usual ones, doing their best, but they will not deliver the expected performance.”
Jadallah concluded by stressing the importance of Egypt’s coach, Roy Vitoria, understanding the capabilities of his players.
He highlighted that certain players excel on the flanks, while others, like Imam Ashour, thrive in deeper positions with movement towards the wings.
The drawn match serves as a wakeup call for the team as they prepare for future challenges, notably the upcoming clash with Ghana.
