Khaled El Ghandour: high humidity blamed for Egypt's draw and Marwan Attia outshines El Nenny

Khaled El Ghandour, former Zamalek star, emphasized that the high humidity played a significant role in Egypt’s draw against Mozambique in the Africa Cup of Nations.

During a phone interview on Al Nahar channel, Ghandour stated, “Mostafa Mohamed was one of the best players in the match, confirming the impact of the humidity.”

He pointed out that humidity affects strong teams and players who compete professionally abroad, citing its influence on Nigeria and Ghana in their opening matches.

Khaled El Ghandour added, “Marwan Attia outperformed Mohamed El Nenny in the starting lineup, despite the latter’s extensive experience.

Zizo and Mohamed Salah, when losing possession, do not track back, hence the necessity of Attia’s participation to intercept the ball and protect the front trio.”

The former Zamalek star continued, “Despite the defensive styles of Héctor Cúper and Javier Aguirre, they reached the final.

With Vitoria’s attacking approach, we delivered a modest performance.”

El Ghandour concluded, “Ahmed Hegazi should have been on the bench, not in the starting lineup.

Mohamed Salah’s performance with the Egyptian national team has been declining for a while.

I was expecting a better performance from him in the match.”

As discussions surrounding Egypt’s performance in the Africa Cup of Nations intensify, Khaled El Ghandour’s insights shed light on the challenging environmental conditions and strategic considerations that impacted the team’s showing against Mozambique.
