Khaled El-Drendaly to lead Egypt delegation for South Sudan qualifier

The Egyptian Football Association has appointed vice-president Khaled El-Drendaly to head the national team’s delegation for their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in South Sudan.

Egypt will face South Sudan in Juba on 29 September, in the second round of qualifying for the tournament.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Football Association board on Tuesday at its headquarters in Sixth of October City.

El-Drendaly previously led Egypt’s delegation at the 2026 World Cup, which was held in the United States, Canada and Mexico in June.

Before travelling to South Sudan, Egypt will begin their qualifying campaign against Angola on Friday 25 September. That match will be played at Cairo Stadium.

Egypt are in Group B alongside Angola, South Sudan and Malawi.

The Africa Cup of Nations will be jointly hosted by Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda from 19 June to 17 July 2027.

Qualifying is being held across 12 groups, with each group containing four teams. The top two sides in every group will qualify directly for the Africa Cup of Nations.
