Khaled El-Darandaly, a member of the Egyptian Football Association’s Board of Directors, provided insights into the upcoming match between the Egyptian national team and Mozambique in the Africa Cup of Nations, set to take place at Felix Houphouet-Boigny Stadium in Abidjan.
Speaking to Al-Hayah channel, El-Darandaly expressed confidence in the team’s preparations, stating, “Everything is going well; the players had their training today, and everything is organized. The atmosphere is positive.”
Addressing potential concerns about the stadium, he mentioned, “The pitch was somewhat dry, but it is good.
The stadium is in good condition.
The field will be watered before the match.
The training field is also good, and the weather is favorable with no high humidity.
We hope the weather tomorrow will be good.”
Assuring the well-being of the team, El-Darandaly remarked, “All the players are in good condition, and there are no injuries.
Ahmed Hegazi is fit and training.”
Regarding the Egyptian community’s attendance, he explained, “The embassy is playing its role in providing tickets to the Egyptian community.
It is expected that there will be around 1,000 Egyptians here, and even if 500 come, it will be a good turnout.
You know that the Egyptian fan counts as a hundred.”
Elaborating on the organizational aspects, he continued, “The organization is good, and the stadiums are in good shape.
However, there is nothing like Egypt. We have a highly advanced infrastructure.
Today, it took us an hour and a half to reach the opening ceremony due to the crowds.”
Assuring the public of Egypt’s readiness for the Africa Cup of Nations, El-Darandaly stated, “We reassure people that we are ready for the Africa Cup of Nations.
We have done everything required, and what we lack is good fortune.
The spirit, determination, and cohesion among the players are present.
The tournament is strong, with 24 strong teams competing, and, Inshallah, we hope to clinch the title.
However, it won’t be easy.
People are closely watching us, knowing the strength of the Egyptian national team, and we have a great star leading the team.”
He concluded by praising Mohamed Salah, saying, “Mohamed Salah is a wonderful person and is adored by the people.
The coaching staff, administration, and players appreciate him.
Abidjan is turned upside down because of him.
Thousands stand in support with his images on the streets.
He is a source of pride for Egypt.”
