Khaled Al-Shenaif chooses Al Fateh as his team for 2026-27 Roshn Saudi League

Saudi football presenter Khaled Al-Shenaif has announced that he will support Al Fateh throughout the 2026-27 Roshn Saudi League season, making the club his chosen side ahead of their opening fixture against Al Nassr.

Al-Shenaif revealed his decision while sending a message of support to Khaled Al-Atwi, who has recently been appointed Al Fateh’s new head coach. The presenter wished Al-Atwi success in his latest role and said he believed the manager could restore the club to its proper position.

Al-Atwi had appeared as a guest on Al-Shenaif’s programme, “Dawrina Ghair”, broadcast by Saudi TV during the previous season.

“Good luck in your stint with Al Fateh. God willing, you are capable of putting Al Fateh in its natural place,” Al-Shenaif said in his message to the manager.

He then made clear that his support for Al Fateh would extend throughout the campaign, rather than being limited to their first match.

“For me, I am not an Al Fateh supporter because of Khaled Al-Atwi. I will be 100% Al Fateh this season because of him, not because he will face Al Nassr, but for Al-Atwi,” he added.

Al Fateh begin their Roshn Saudi League campaign under Al-Atwi on Saturday, when they face Al Nassr at Al-Awwal Park in Riyadh in the opening round of the competition.

The match gives Al-Shenaif an immediate reason to follow the club he has now publicly adopted for the new season, although his comments stressed that his allegiance was driven by his relationship with Al-Atwi and not simply by the identity of Al Fateh’s opponents.

Al-Atwi’s appointment comes after he was previously considered a candidate to take charge of the Saudi Arabia national team at the 2026 World Cup. He was among the names discussed as a possible successor to French coach Herve Renard.

The national-team role ultimately went to Greek manager Georgios Donis, who was appointed at the end of the process. Al-Atwi instead begins the new league season with Al Fateh, with his first competitive assignment coming against Al Nassr in Riyadh.

Al-Shenaif’s announcement therefore places the media figure firmly behind Al Fateh at the start of the 2026-27 campaign, while also highlighting the backing he has chosen to give Al-Atwi in his new position.
