Kevin Schade: Roma eye move for Brentford’s Germany-Nigeria winger

Roma are exploring a move for German-Nigerian winger Kevin Schade from Brentford as the Serie A club look to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new season. The 24-year-old, who plays primarily on the left and prefers his right foot, is currently under contract with the Premier League side until 30 June 2028.

Schade, born in Potsdam in November 2001, has established himself in England’s top flight, making more than 100 Premier League appearances for Brentford and scoring 21 goals. His form has seen his valuation rise to around €35m, a figure likely to form the basis of any negotiations between the clubs if Roma decide to advance their interest.

Brentford signed Schade on a permanent deal on 1 July 2023 after an initial loan spell from Freiburg, paying a fee of €25m to secure his services. He had previously broken through in the Bundesliga with Freiburg, where he also featured in the Europa League and reached the German Cup final in the 2021-22 season.

Standing at 1.85m, Schade has experience across German youth and reserve competitions as well as the English domestic cups, and he has accumulated more than 6,000 minutes of Premier League football since moving to London. His contract length and status as a regular in Brentford’s attack mean the club are under no pressure to sell, and any deal would likely require a significant offer from Roma to tempt the west London side into discussions.
