Former Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng has officially entered the world of football management with the launch of his own agency, ‘Rookie & Champ’.
The ex-midfielder, who retired from professional football in 2023, confirmed the news through his official social media accounts, unveiling his new venture which will focus on identifying and developing young talent—starting with his hometown of Berlin.
Boateng, who was born and raised in the German capital, is aiming to use his experience and global network to guide the next generation of players.
His agency’s mission is rooted in supporting promising youth footballers from Berlin with a long-term vision of expanding its reach to other parts of the world, including Africa.
The former AC Milan and Schalke star explained that his motivation lies in giving back to the community where his journey began.
With ‘Rookie & Champ’, he intends to provide mentorship and opportunities for aspiring footballers who may not yet have access to elite training environments or professional guidance.
“Berlin gave me everything. Now it’s time to give something back,” Boateng said in a brief statement accompanying the announcement.
The former Ghana and Germany youth international, known for his technical skills and outspoken character, has expressed a desire to support players both on and off the pitch, helping them navigate the pressures of professional sport with the benefit of his lived experience.
Although the agency is currently focused on Berlin-based players, Boateng made it clear that he has ambitions to expand his reach, with particular emphasis on Ghana and the wider African continent.
The 37-year-old, who represented Ghana at the 2010 and 2014 World Cups, has long spoken of his connection to his roots and has previously been involved in charitable initiatives in Africa.
Boateng’s decision to become an agent marks the latest chapter in a career that saw him play for clubs across Europe including Tottenham Hotspur, Borussia Dortmund, Milan, Barcelona, and Hertha Berlin.
Renowned for his flair and versatility on the field, Boateng now hopes to channel that same energy into discovering and shaping the stars of tomorrow.
‘Rookie & Champ’ enters a competitive field, but with Boateng’s name recognition and footballing pedigree, the agency is expected to draw interest quickly.
It will offer not only representation but also career advice, mental coaching, and development planning—elements Boateng believes are crucial in the modern game.
The announcement has already generated excitement in both Germany and Ghana, with fans welcoming the former midfielder’s transition into talent development.
Many see this as a positive move that could help uncover hidden gems, particularly in underrepresented areas of Berlin and across African football communities.
As Boateng begins this new journey off the pitch, he brings with him a deep understanding of the demands and pitfalls of a professional career.
With ‘Rookie & Champ’, his goal is clear: to empower young players to dream big, stay grounded, and succeed in football on their own terms.
