Togolese international Kevin Denkey proved to be the hero for Cercle Bruges, scoring twice after coming off the bench to secure a 2-1 victory against Gent in the Belgian Pro League. His decisive contribution came just minutes after his introduction, ensuring a crucial win for his team in the fifth round of the competition.

The match began with both teams struggling to break the deadlock. After a tense and tightly contested first half, neither side managed to find the back of the net, with the score remaining 0-0 at the interval.

Cercle Bruges coach Miron Muslic made his tactical changes early in the second half, bringing on Denkey in the 67th minute to replace Kazem Olaigbe.

The substitution soon paid off. In the 77th minute, Denkey made an immediate impact, scoring the opening goal.

After a well-timed move down the left by Nazininho, Denkey positioned himself perfectly at the near post and calmly slotted the ball past the Gent goalkeeper, putting Cercle Bruges 1-0 up.

Denkey wasn’t done yet. Just minutes after his first goal, he struck again to double his tally and Cercle Bruges’ lead.

The Togolese forward’s sharpness in front of goal proved too much for the Gent defense, as he found the net for the second time to give his side a comfortable advantage.

This brace marked yet another standout performance for Denkey in the Jupiler Pro League, where he continues to be a key player for Cercle Bruges.

Despite a late effort by Gent to mount a comeback, including a stoppage-time goal in the 98th minute, Cercle Bruges held firm to secure all three points.

The 2-1 victory solidifies their position in the league, with Denkey’s two goals the clear highlight of the match.

Denkey’s impressive performance underlines his growing importance to Cercle Bruges.

His ability to change the game in such a short period of time demonstrates his value as a reliable and decisive player, one capable of turning opportunities into goals when it matters most.

Cercle Bruges will now look to build on this momentum as they continue their campaign in the Belgian first division, with Denkey expected to play a central role in their push for success.
