Kevin Denkey and Lilian Brassier named in Togo squad for Algeria double-header

Kevin Denkey and Fo-Doh Laba headline Togo’s squad for their two-legged 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying encounter against Algeria, with Lilian Brassier receiving his first call-up to the Sparrowhawks.

Head coach Patrice Neveu has announced his selection for the crucial double-header, as Togo prepare for two meetings with the North African side in their bid to strengthen their position in the AFCON 2027 qualifiers.

The Sparrowhawks will travel to Algeria on 14 November 2026 for the first encounter before returning home to face the Fennecs in the reverse fixture three days later.

The second meeting is scheduled for 17 November at the Stade de Kégué in Lomé, where Togo will hope to make the most of home advantage against one of Africa’s leading national teams.

Neveu has largely maintained the experienced core of his squad, retaining several familiar faces as he prepares his players for what promises to be a demanding assignment.

Brassier’s inclusion is among the notable developments in the squad announcement. The defender has agreed to represent Togo internationally and has received his first invitation to join the national team.

His arrival provides another defensive option for Neveu ahead of the important fixtures, with the coach looking to assemble a squad capable of competing across both matches.

In attack, Denkey and Laba are among the headline selections. The two forwards will be expected to provide the attacking threat as Togo attempt to overcome Algeria and collect valuable points in the qualifying campaign.

Charles Abi, Thibault Klidje, Mansour Ouro-Tagba and Komi Arnaud Komlavi have also been included among the attacking options.

The midfield selection features Kodjo Aziangbe, Sadik Fofana, Faad Sana, Sharani Zuberu, Dermane Karim, Samsindin Ouro, Dakonam Djene, Steven Nador and Bastou Djibril.

Meanwhile, Neveu has selected three goalkeepers, with Steven Mensah, Malcolm Barcola and Achirafou Yaya making the squad.

The defensive department also includes Kennedy Boateng, Abdoul-Sabourh Bode, Augustin Drakpe, Loic Bessile, Pierre Nadjombe and Henri Koudossou alongside Brassier.

Togo face a difficult challenge against Algeria, but Neveu will be hoping his experienced selections and the addition of new faces can help the team produce positive results over the two encounters.

With the first leg taking place in Algeria before the return match in Lomé, the Sparrowhawks will have little time to recover between the fixtures as they pursue their AFCON 2027 qualification ambitions.
