Kevin De Bruyne linked with San Diego move after Napoli spell

Belgium midfielder Kevin De Bruyne is being linked with a move from Napoli to San Diego in Major League Soccer. The 35-year-old attacking midfielder joined Napoli from Manchester City on a free transfer in July 2025 and remains under contract with the Italian club until 30 June 2027.

De Bruyne has made 18 Serie A appearances for Napoli, scoring five goals and providing two assists. He also played five times for Belgium at the 2026 World Cup, scoring once, and started 83% of their possible matches.

The potential move would see De Bruyne leave European football for MLS, with San Diego identified as the club interested in taking him to the United States. No transfer fee or probability has been established for the reported switch.

De Bruyne spent a decade at Manchester City after joining from Wolfsburg in August 2015. During that period, he won the Champions League in 2023 and six Premier League titles, as well as five League Cups and two FA Cups.

The Belgian was named Premier League Player of the Year in 2020 and 2022 and has also been recognised as Footballer of the Year three times. His current Napoli contract, agreed after his free transfer in 2025, runs for another season beyond the current campaign.
