Rennes are intensifying their efforts to bolster their defense with a €22M bid for Lens’ commanding centre-back Kevin Danso, reports L’Équipe.
The Austrian-Ghanaian, known for his consistency and leadership at the back, is a priority target for Jorge Sampaoli’s side, who are eager to fix their defensive woes this season.
Danso, 26, has also attracted interest from Premier League club Wolverhampton, whose similar offer was reportedly rejected by Lens. Rennes, however, remain undeterred, aiming to reunite Danso with former teammates Brice Samba and Seko Fofana, as well as Rennes president Arnaud Pouille, who formerly held the CEO role at Lens.
Lens are said to be holding out for a total package of €30M, including a fixed fee of €25M, after already losing defensive stalwarts Abdukodir Khusanov and Samba in this transfer window.
With the transfer window closing on February 3rd, Rennes are determined to bring in Danso, whose experience and composure could be the key to transforming their struggling backline.
