After turning down numerous requests from the Guinean football federation, midfielder Kevin Constant has expressed his readiness to rejoin the national Syli. Confirming this decision on Tuesday, he promptly joined the team’s training sessions in preparation for the upcoming qualifying match against Niger on the following Sunday.
Last week, French Guinea coach Michel Dussuyer released a squad list of 19 players, omitting Genoa’s Constant, who is currently on loan at AC Milan. However, Féguifoot, the Guinean football federation, continued negotiations with the player, involving the Minister of Sports. These efforts proved successful as Constant agreed to rejoin the national team for the match against Niger’s Mena. The 25-year-old midfielder, born in France, had previously represented Guinea in 2007 after training with the French youth team. His inclusion will be a valuable addition to Dussuyer’s group, which is now without its iconic captain, Pascal Feindouno, following his retirement from international football after the last Africa Cup of Nations.
The national Syli is gearing up for a crucial qualification match this Sunday at the September 28 Stadium in Conakry, with the prospect of securing a coveted spot in the continental event.
