Kenya to host 2026 Women’s FIFA Series International Friendlies
Kenya is set to make history in women’s football as it hosts the FIFA Series 2026 Women’s International Friendlies, marking the first time the country will stage an event of this magnitude on the continent.
The official address for the occasion will be delivered by Hon. Salim Mvurya, EGH, Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy & Sports, alongside Hussein Mohammed, President of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF).
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, 24th March, at 10:00 a.m., on the rooftop of Talanta Plaza. FKF and the Ministry are expected to use the platform to highlight Kenya’s growing investment in women’s football and its ambitions on the international stage.
“This is a landmark moment not just for Kenya, but for women’s football across Africa,” said Hussein Mohammed.
“Hosting an international FIFA event demonstrates our commitment to elevating the sport and creating opportunities for female athletes to showcase their talent globally.”
The FIFA Series 2026 Women’s International Friendlies will bring together top international teams, offering local players exposure to high-level competition and signaling Kenya’s readiness to be a hub for major sporting events.
Football fans and stakeholders will watch closely as Kenya leverages this milestone to strengthen its position in women’s football development and promote greater participation across the nation.
The event will also be live on FKF’s social media channels, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, allowing fans across the country to join in celebrating this historic achievement.
This initiative reflects Kenya’s broader commitment to supporting women in sports and sets the stage for a new era in African women’s football.
