According to a press release from CAF, this decision was made after Kenya provided the necessary government guarantees and submitted a complete file including the required infrastructure and security assurances.
The CHAN tournament is specifically designed for national teams consisting of players who compete in their respective domestic leagues. The previous edition of CHAN was held in South Africa in 2014, where Libya emerged victorious, securing the championship title in a penalty shootout against Ghana.
Furthermore, it was announced that Rwanda will be the host country for the 2016 edition of CHAN. This decision highlights CAF’s commitment to promoting football development across the African continent by providing opportunities for domestic-based players to showcase their talent on an international stage.
