Kenya must support Benni McCarthy – Gambia coach Jonathan McKinstry
Gambia head coach Jonathan McKinstry has urged fans and officials to back Kenya’s head coach, Benni McCarthy, as he continues to steer the Harambee Stars.
The former South African international took over the Kenyan national team in March, succeeding Turkish coach Engin Firat.
Since his appointment, McCarthy has guided Kenya to a resounding 5-0 victory over Seychelles during the recent international break and currently holds a record of five wins, three draws, and three defeats from 11 matches in charge.
Speaking to TelecomAsia, McKinstry praised McCarthy’s credentials and impact.
“I know I was very outspoken about that when I was here but now no. You guys have a really great coach in McCarthy.
“A coach who has played at the highest level and achieved the best as a player and is already doing great in his young career as a coach.
“We saw what we did with the team at the CHAN and I think you guys only need to get behind him and give him maximum support.
“I believe he is the right man to take Harambee Stars to the next level, especially with the right support,” McKinstry added.
